On the 23rd July a charity football day has been arranged at Kimberley Park, NE42 5EH to celebrate the lives of two Prudhoe Youth Club FC legends George McCreedy and Ian Lowery. George was Chairman and Secretary of the club for over 40 years and Ian was a prominent coach for many years and also played in Blackpool FC's youth teams before a bad injury ruined a promising career. George was also a member of Prudhoe’s Town Council and prominent in the Town Twinning activities with Ville de Mitry-Mory. George and Ian were also highly popular youth workers and spent many hours at the East Centre and the Prudhoe Youth Charity Shop tirelessly working for the benefit of the youth of Prudhoe. We hope that the attendance on the day and the funds raised will provide a fitting tribute to the lives of Ian and George. All funds raised will be donated to activities close to their hearts: youth work in the town (now carried out by the Prudhoe Youth Project) and youth football in Prudhoe.
Throughout the day there will be a number of activities for all ages with stalls, bouncy castles, live entertainment and two entertaining football matches:
Game 1, 12:30 Kick Off: Lowery Legends v Lowery Select for the Ian Lowery Trophy.
Game 2, 3pm Kick Off: Prudhoe Youth Club Seniors (The Official Northern League Div. 2) v Whickham FC (The Official Northern League Div. 1) for the George McCreedy Trophy.
Let’s make this a day to remember to celebrate the lives of Prudhoe legends Ian and George.
