Match Preview: Seniors vs Billingham Town

Match Preview: Seniors vs Billingham Town

Jack Robinson29 Jul - 20:30

The Seniors are back at Essity Park tomorrow night, as Billingham Town visit.

After a 0-0 draw with Sunderland RCA on Friday night, the Seniors will be hoping to grab their first 3-points of the season, and open their goalscoring count for the season.

Friday night saw an impressive defensive display, as the Seniors defence impressed, and some of the new additions gained some valuable Northern League minutes.

Tomorrow's opponents, Billingham Town, overcame the Seniors' Essity Park counterparts, Newcastle University, last weekend in a 3-2 win at Bedford Terrace. This leaves them in 8th place currently, whilst the Seniors sit 12th.

Kick-Off at Essity Park is at 7:30pm on Wednesday 30th July, although supporters are encouraged to arrive early, in order to avoid mass queuing. Admission is £6 for adults and £3 for concessions. A printed Match Programme will be available on-entry, with it being included in the price of the adult admission fee.

The Opposition
Billingham Town has been an ever-present fixture in the Seniors calendar, with Town having been a part of all three of the Seniors' previous Ebac Northern Football League Division Two campaigns.

They finished 15th last season, eight points behind the Seniors in 11th.

Manager Jamie Poole is leading Billingham Town into his second season as manager, and will be eager to continue his winning start.

2024/25 saw the Seniors face Billingham Town twice in the league, and they avoided defeat on both occasions. The first tie was at Bedford Terrace, as Brad Rogers netted the decisive goal in a narrow 1-0 win for the Seniors. The second came at Essity Park, where the game ended 2-2, with Harry Marr and Collins Unuareokpa netting for the Seniors.

Players to Watch
Last season's Manager's Player of the season, Jay Plunkett, plays his second game for the Seniors this season, and will be leading his team from the defence, as they look for successive clean-sheets.

At the other end of the pitch tomorrow night will be Michael Wright, who will look to feature, having made an appearance as a substitute on Friday Night. The rapid forward showcased his versatility in pre-season, making appearances on both wings and as the striker.
