The home side took the lead in the opening quarter of an hour via Ciaran Dixon, before James Simpson found an equaliser, his first goal in YC colours, at the start of the second period.
Just a minute later, Billy Foster put the visitors in front with a superb effort from near the halfway line.
Unfortunately for the Seniors though, they couldn’t hang on for the three points as Luke Jackson equalised for Darlo a few minutes before the end of normal time.
Coming into the match, Prudhoe hoped to bounce back from a 5-0 defeat away to current table toppers Seaham Red Star.
YC manager Dean Walker gave a first appearance of the campaign to Freddie Marr, following his absence in the opening three games of the season.
The Match
After a relatively quiet opening to the match, Town grabbed the opener in the 12th minute.
Dixon’s deflected effort from the edge of the box looped over Sam Wilson to put Darlo in the ascendancy.
The remainder of the half saw a few openings for both sides, but nothing concrete as Town remained in the lead going into the second period.
Prudhoe came out after half time with a point to prove, and immediately looked sharper and more positive.
It didn’t take long for the visitors to level the match, with Simpson equalising on 49 minutes.
After some great play from Thomas Wilson down the left-hand side, he found Simpson in the centre of the park, who tried his luck from distance and fired home.
Only a minute later, Foster gave the Seniors the lead in extraordinary fashion. The no.7 noticed Darlo ‘keeper Tyler Smith off his line, and lofted a strike from near the centre circle over the no.1 and into the top right corner.
Now in the lead, the away side looked to gain control over the game and hold out for the three points.
As the half progressed, Darlo pushed for an equaliser, with Brandon Mallaburn’s volleyed effort from inside the box rising just over the bar in the 62nd minute.
On 68 minutes however, the YC had an attempt to make it three. Wilson looked dangerous down the left again – cutting inside and getting a shot off which fizzed just wide of the left corner.
Prudhoe showed grit and desire throughout the final 20 minutes of normal time, but couldn’t hold on to the lead as Darlo found the leveller in the 87th minute.
A dangerous set piece into the YC box eventually fell to Jackson, who guided his strike into the bottom left corner.
In injury time, the Seniors had an opportunity to find the winner. Brad Lowes turned well in the box but was unable to test Smith with his effort.
Although not the three points Prudhoe would have hoped for, the Seniors secured a point on the road, with plenty of positives to take into their next fixture.
It’s a quick turnaround for the YC, who are back at Essity Park on Friday night, facing Ryton & Crawcrook Albion in the Tyne Valley derby.
