Morgan Dart scored the only goal of the match at the half hour mark to give the visitors a valuable three points in the play off race.
Coming off the back of a draw against Newcastle University in the Essity Park derby, the YC hoped to get back to winning ways against their local rivals.
As for the Albion, the away team wished to take a win back to Ryton after a 4-2 loss against Billingham Synthonia last week.
After a delayed kick off due to foggy conditions, both sides looked eager to flex their muscles from the outset.
RACA’s Louis Calvert had an early chance in the 7th minute, swiveling in the box and forcing a stop from Tom Dawson from close range.
A few minutes later, Prudhoe nearly drew first blood in the derby. A pinpoint lofted pass from Lucca Taylor found Matt Law, whose audacious chip over the keeper hit the inside of the post, keeping the game level.
From here, clear cut chances were few and far between, leaving the contest evenly poised.
That said, the YC had a penalty overturned to a free kick after 27 minutes.
Michael Wright seemed to have won the home team a chance from the spot after he was brought down on his way into the box. A few minutes of confusion followed as the decision was changed, and Prudhoe were unable to capitalise from the set piece.
Just as the YC were posing a threat, RACA took the lead in the 29th minute. A teasing through ball left Dart one-on-one, with the forward coolly dispatching his effort into the bottom right corner.
Now a goal ahead, the Albion began to assume control over the tie as Prudhoe struggled to find a reply.
In the second half, there was a glimmer of hope for the YC when Fergus Lynch got his second yellow at the 70 minute mark, following a dangerously high challenge on Liam Dalton.
However, the home side found it difficult to create any openings to unlock RACA’s defence.
With ten minutes to go, the away side almost doubled their lead. Scott Oldfield’s attempt towards goal reached Calvert, who called Dawson into action with a stellar reflex save.
Matters got worse for the YC when Jordan Plunkett saw a straight red card in the 95th minute, adding to a disappointing display.
Despite the defeat, Prudhoe remain seventh in the league table, firmly in the race for a play off place.
