Lewis Rutherford scored the opener for Red Star early into the first half, before Michael Wright equalised for the hosts shortly after.
Seaham swiftly responded, regaining the lead courtesy of Ryan Appleby, however, Thomas Wilson made it all square just before the half-hour mark.
Red Star found their third goal in the second period – James McGeorge’s effort sealing the victory for the visitors.
After three consecutive defeats, Prudhoe came into the game hoping for a reaction and were boosted by the return of Wilson – the YC’s top goalscorer in the league.
The Match
A lively opening to the game saw Seaham strike first with five minutes on the clock. Rutherford burst into the YC box and wrapped his effort into the bottom-right corner to give the away side a dream start.
Five minutes later, the hosts’ Brad Lowes found Wilson with a dangerous cross, who forced a solid stop from Shaun Newbrook with his header.
From the resulting corner, Wright levelled the match for Prudhoe. Freddie Marr’s set-piece bounced around the Red Star penalty area, before Wright guided his effort through the legs of Cameron McHarg and into the Seaham net.
On 20 minutes, the away side put themselves back in the ascendancy. A cross into the box was met by Appleby; powerfully heading home past Sam Wilson.
There was another twist in an action-packed start to the match when Wilson scored the fourth goal of the game. The forward latched onto another delightful delivery from Marr with a glancing header into the right corner in the 28th minute.
Later in the half, Lowes cut back to Wright inside the box, whose strike curled narrowly wide of the bottom-left corner.
Early in the second period, Red Star threatened as Ryan O’Connor capped off a forceful run through the centre of the park with an effort just wide of the left corner.
As the half progressed, Marr combined with Lowes, releasing the number seven in on goal on two occasions, but Seaham’s defence thwarted both opportunities.
On 73 minutes, though, Red Star took the lead for the third time in the game. McGeorge expertly brought down a lofted through ball and lobbed home with precision over Wilson.
Prudhoe built pressure in the final stages, however, couldn’t unlock Seaham’s backline to find an equaliser.
Next up for the Seniors is League Cup action, with the YC making the trip to face Yarm & Eaglescliffe on Tuesday night.
